Calum spent 20 years at Centaur Media and was MD with responsibilities including the Homebuilding & Renovating portfolio, giving him extensive senior contacts amongst the self build community.
Calum was a key member of the management team that floated Centaur onto the London Stock Exchange in 2004 and has an MBA, with distinction, from London Business School.
In March 2012 Calum launched his own business and bought Build It magazine which he has subsequently re-vitalised and is now the UK’s fastest growing self-build title. The launch of the industry’s first awards scheme, a new website and the “knock-out” Build It Live exhibition have all added to the strength and penetration of the Build It brand.
Calum is committed to growing the sector both through the traditional self build route and newer custom build variants as they mature. He is in regular contact with many of the key members of the community which will be useful in raising the profile of NaCSBA membership.
Calum believes that a major priority is to enhance the value of membership, so that more companies want to join. But Calum believes additional revenue streams also need to be introduced, including from charitable foundations and match-funding, to give NaCSBA the firepower it needs to increase its scope and reach.
